Hi, my name is Jens.
Born in 1986 and still proof that curiosity and technology can go hand in hand with aesthetics. I have always been fascinated by how images move, how light defines shape, and how design can make complex ideas feel effortless. What started as a hobby over fifteen years ago has become a profession that still excites me every single day.
In 2022 I founded Buchholz Motion + Graphics, an independent studio based in Berlin. It brings together design, 3D, and motion to create visual systems that are both functional and emotional. My work focuses on the intersection of motion design, 3D animation, and visual identity, covering everything from concept development and art direction to production and final delivery. I collaborate with brands, agencies, and cultural institutions to shape moving imagery that communicates clearly and feels timeless.
Each project starts with understanding — of content, context, and audience. From there, design becomes structure, and structure becomes motion. Whether it’s a brand film, a WebGL experience, a visual identity, or a single animated detail, the goal is always the same: to create clarity through movement.
Every project begins with people.
Whether it is a direct client, an agency or a temporary team assembled for a specific task, collaboration is always at the center of my process. Understanding expectations, workflows and different perspectives helps create solutions that are both creative and efficient. Design and motion work best when ideas are developed together and refined through dialogue. Each collaboration follows a rhythm of understanding, analysis and creation.

Before any design decisions are made, I focus on understanding the context. This includes learning about goals, challenges and the visual identity of the client or agency. Building a relationship based on trust and open communication is essential. Strong collaboration sets the foundation for meaningful results and long-term partnerships.
With a clear understanding of the task, I begin to define possible directions. Each project is different, and this phase often involves evaluating various concepts and technical approaches. Together with the client or team, we discuss which path serves the purpose best. This shared exploration often leads to new insights that directly influence the creative outcome.
Once the direction is set, I translate ideas into visual form.
Storyboards, mood boards or motion concepts define the tone and structure of the piece. Throughout production, I maintain close communication with all involved partners.
Short feedback rounds ensure that progress remains transparent and that creative intent and strategy stay aligned. The result is a well-crafted design or animation that reflects collective effort and shared vision.
